Alarm System
We have opted for a system of lazer beams detecting any movement on the outside of the house.
You can only move freely on the verandah without sounding the alarm when switched on, but will trigger the alarm if you set a foot off the stoep. Please refrain from doing so as it summons armed assistance within 3 minutes and makes an ear splitting noise which is generally not well received by the other guests.
On occasion the little grey buck wandering in the orchards at night have triggered the alarm when they come to near the house.
Animals
Unfortunately animals are not permitted at Mirihof Guest House.

Beauty and Body Treatments
There are numerous beauty salons and spas in close proximity to Mirihof Guest House. If you however prefer, you can have the Spa come to you in the privacy of your suite.
BICYCLES
There are mountain bike trails and bicycles can be hired – ask us or phone Ron Brunnings 023 614 1932
Birds
The Mirihof Guest House is a haven for bird life and several species of small wild animals e.g. rock rabbits.
Breakfast
Breakfast is served in the diningroom or weather permitting on the verandah with stunning views of the mountain.

Dogs
 My name is Sproeitjies and I belong to Mike and Rinette. I'm a fabulous old gal and really quite active, but due to my age (13 years) I tend to be a little possesive over my territory so I don't tolerate other canines.
In addition to this I'm also prescribed a very special diet by my physician so I must please ask that you don't feed me scraps as this could be detrimental to my health. Due to my age I'm sometimes a bit cranky around babies but otherwise I'm generally very sweet and get along just great with humans of all ages. I really look forward to your visit.

Safe
A safe is provided in the main office for your valuables. Please check with reception should you wish to hand in valuables for safe keeping.
Self Catering
Although this is not a self catering establishment, we generally don’t mind the consumption of take-away meals on the veranda. Please discuss it with us and we’ll be happy to supply cutlery & crockery. We prefer you not to keep food in your rooms for obvious reasons.
Shuttle Service (Cape Town International)
A shuttle service to and from Cape Town International Airport can be provided upon request at an additional cost. Please pre-arrange with management.

Smoking is not permitted indoors but provision is made for smoking in the garden and on the verandah.

Tipping
It is customary in South Africa to leave a tip in a restaurant or service establishment if you are pleased with the service you have received. 10% is considered normal, more if you are very happy and think the service provider deserved it.
Tour Guides and Tours
Tours and tour guides can be arranged in advance. Please enquire with your hosts.
Towels
Leave bath towels which you want replaced on the floor in the bathroom for the housekeeping staff. Please do not use the towels outside. We have other towels available if you would like to sunbathe on the lawn.

Travel to the top of “Kanonkop” at the north end of Kohler Street for a spectacular view of Montagu. A great photo opportunity. See our map for directions.

Water
Tap water in Montagu is potable and of excellent quality. Please use this valuable resource sparingly. Filtered water is available at the coffee bar.
Wine
There are several wine farms in the area. They can be visited in a round trip with lunch in the middle. We will be happy to assist with the lunch bookings.
There are two wine cellars in town and Montagu became famous for the good quality Muskadel produced by these two cellars.
The wine shop at the Total petrol station in Ashton sells most of the cellars wine at the same price as at the cellar.
